Extrusion Molding, Blow Molding, and Injection Molding M&Q's large Texas and Philippine plants specialize in extrusion molding, blow molding, and injection molded plastics, and a wide variety of engineering grade materials. Nylon is impervious to hydrocarbons and all ordinary solvents. It has low permeability to gasoline vapor. For this reason, as well as other inherent properties, nylon is considered best for use in automotive evaporative control systems—gasoline tanks, blow molded reservoirs for power steering and brake fluids, and other parts which come into contact with aggressive automotive fuels and vapors. Intricate configurations, including internal and external sizing on nozzles, and solid mounting tabs can be incorporated in the mold design. Injection molded parts share the same strong properties of nylon, and extend the M&Q product line to further custom applications. MONOLYN®: The M&Q Difference M&Q's Pennsylvania plant specializes in the development of blown nylon film. As a result of a combination of unique properties found in the MONOLYN® family of film, M&Q's nylon films can be manufactured into sheets, bags, and lay-flat tubing to be used in a variety of food, medical and industrial applications. M&Q products are the only fully recyclable products on the market today. THERMAL For continuous service, MONOLYN® may be used under temperature conditions ranging from -100ºF to +350ºF. TENSILE STRENGTH MONOLYN® exceeds 13,000 psi without orientation. TEAR STRENGTH MONOLYN® holds to 50 gm/mil. TABOR STRENGTH When tested with a 500 gm load, MONOLYN® sustains 977 cycles. CHEMICAL RESISTANCE With the exception of mineral acids, phenols, and concentrated formic acid, MONOLYN® is unaffected by exposure to chemicals. BACTERIAL AND MOLD RESISTANCE MONOLYN® will not decay and is resistant to mold. It is impermeable to micro organisms before and after sterilization. ODOR BARRIER PROPERTIES MONOLYN® is an excellent barrier to most odors. FDA AND MID APPROVAL MONOLYN® is manufactured from a nylon compound that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, as well as the Meat Inspection Department, as acceptable for enclosing federally inspected meat and food products. OIL AND GREASE RESISTANCE No other film has equivalent oil-barrier properties. MONOLYN® is unaffected by animal, vegetable, or mineral oils and fats. MOISTURE-VAPOR TRANSMISSION The unique feature of combined high-moisture-vapor transmission at raised temperatures makes MONOLYN® the best thermoplastic film presently available for use in steam sterilization and gas autoclaving. GAS PERMEABILITY MONOLYN® has excellent gas barrier properties which make it exceptionally suited for packaging under nitrogen, carbon dioxide, or vacuum.
